Hi, I'm Stephen. By background I work in accounting & finance, with experience across audit and financial controls, and I have a Master's degree in Accounting.

I started this blog to make sense of the economic and financial commentary I keep running into — articles, op-eds, videos — by summarizing it into shorter, more digestible notes. It's partly a way to think things through, and partly a public notebook.

I want to be upfront: I'm not an economist or a professional analyst. I'm someone with a finance background who reads a lot and tries to distill it clearly. If you read something here and see it differently, I'd genuinely like to hear it — I'd rather get a fuller picture than just my own take. Right now the easiest way to do that is to keep it in mind for when this site is a bit further along; down the line I'd like to add a way for readers to leave feedback directly.
